L.A. Concerts
.Of course, if you’re in LA, you want to see some celebrities, right? And what better place to see them than on stage performing the very songs that make them famous.
Los Angeles is very much known for its concerts, and from the Hollywood Bowl to Staples Center, there are plenty of amazing shows to see. This summer, the Staples Center will be welcoming artists like Shawn Mendes and the Backstreet Boys to their stage.
The Hollywood Bowl has concerts nearly every night, ranging from the Los Angeles Philharmonic to Cyndi Lauper and ABBA. The Greek Theatre is welcoming artists like Billie Eilish this summer, and there’s no better place to see a concert than standing above the ocean on the Santa Monica Pier.
The Pier is home to one of LA’s most anticipated events: Twilight on the Pier. Formerly known as the Twilight Concert Series, this event begins August 21 and will take place every Wednesday night through September.
This year’s lineup has not been announced yet, but you can guarantee that nothing beats listening to live music standing above the beach, no matter who you go see.

L.A. MUSEUMS
Los Angeles is photogenic in and of itself, but the art museums are the best spots to get those quirky, Instagram worthy shots that will have your friends feeling jealous they couldn’t come with you.
The first incredibly unique art museum that needs to adorn your social media is The Getty Center. While most of their art is classical, the museum also features an expansive botanic garden and water feature as well as art by world famous artists, such as Van Gogh, Monet, and Rembrandt.
The sister museum of the Getty Center is the Getty Villa. Overlooking the cliffside of Santa Monica and the crashing waves of LA’s famous beaches, the Getty Villa features beautiful gardens to enjoy in the California sunshine, unique architecture, and artwork from ancient Greece and Rome.
LACMA (the Los Angeles County Museum of Art) is easily one of the most famous spots in the whole city. You’ll surely recognize the installation of street lamps outside the museum, and the museum itself features art from all eras. Here, you can browse permanent collections from artists like Pablo Picasso, and enjoy new and temporary installments such as Eleanor Antin: Time’s Arrow and Isaac Julien: Playtime.
If you’re visiting Los Angeles, one of the must-do things on your list should be to see the lights of the entire city from the Griffith Observatory. Come sundown, the city’s buildings come alive below the mountain the observatory is perched on.
While you’re there, have a look around the museum, take a peek through the famous telescope at Los Angeles’ night sky, and visit the planetarium to learn about the stars that sit nightly above the famous Hollywood stars below.
L.A. SHOPPING
The Grove: If you’re looking to do a little shopping, a little eating, and a lot of experiencing Hollywood, definitely hit the Grove. The Grove is an expansive shopping center in the middle of Hollywood whose parking lot displays views of the Hollywood Sign from the top floor.
Here, you’ll find the city’s only three-story-tall bookstore (a Barnes and Noble with signed copies hidden inside), and the occasional concert, featuring artists like Andy Grammar and X Ambassadors.
The Grove is also home to a myriad of amazing restaurants, including Umami Burger and Sprinkles Cupcakes. On top of this, there is also an amazing permanent farmer’s market attached to the Grove where you’ll be able to find local eats, treats, and hidden, unique souvenirs.
Hollywood POOL PARTIES
If you like to “shake a stick”, head on out to one of the newest hotels in Hollywood: Dream Hollywood! The entire weekend here is a giant pool party held on their rooftop deck—known as the Highlight Room—that comes with its own exclusive views of the Los Angeles skyline.
While the party is happening all weekend, Sundays from 2 until sunset are the Play it Cool Party, featuring tropical tunes and vibes to go with the pool, sun, and palm trees lining the streets of LA below. (Summer Only)
Los Angeles is home to a myriad of unique pop-up restaurants and museums, and this summer, Los Angeles is set to get its very own Good Burger pop-up restaurant inspired by the hit Nickelodeon ‘90’s show, All That.
The restaurant will have food and experiences inspired by the show and tickets go on sale June 17, although the actual restaurant isn’t set to open until July 10.
Also happening this summer is a Mystical Fashion Pop-up, featuring aromatherapy, reiki, tarot readings, a live DJ, and more. The event will take place on July 3, 2019 at the W from 5-9 pm, and admission is free! You do need to RSVP online first.
If you’re looking for an even more mysterious event, you might consider going to Pop-Up Dinner LA, a nighttime picnic taking place at a secret location on August 17, 2019.
The dinner will feature food, live music and entertainment, and is bound to be the most upscale picnic experience you’ve ever had. You can RSVP and purchase tickets online.
BARS AND CLUBS
Before your day in Los Angeles ends, you have to cap it all off with a trip to one of LA’s trendy bars and get at least a little tipsy.
This city is always moving in its own unique direction, but its bars take it to the next level. One of the best places for groups is Arts District Brewing Company, which not only has its own huge open floor and amazing drinks, but it also comes with games like Skee-Ball and Jenga, so you can prove to your friends who really deserves to rule Los Angeles.
Another great bar to visit is The Griffin, which has special events on certain days of the week (like $5 wings on Wednesdays), and also features two bars. Downtown is home to The NoMad, which comes with a menu of over 40 drinks and a tropical themed specialty drink menu on their rooftop.
Los Angeles is home to so much more than just Hollywood and the Walk of Fame, and the best way to truly experience the city is with a group of your best friends. From rooftop pool parties to getting to eat a meal at the restaurant from a childhood TV show, Los Angeles has a whole lot of fun for everyone in your group!
